Process Post: Structure and Hooks

I decided at the last minute to go over the beginning, middle, and ending of the book description again. I just kept thinking about it and went, “I told people what goes into each part of the book description, but I didn’t say why.”

Also, just so you know, every week I’m like, “I SHOULD UPDATE ALL MY DESCRIPTIONS” and “I DON’T HAVE TIME!!!”

The struggle is real.

Part of me wonders what would happen if people just wrote on-the-nose book descriptions:

This is a book about sexy vampire librarians!

By sexy vampires, I mean there is explicit sex! This story is told by the point of view of a library grad student who is not a vampire! Who has explicit sex with several librarian vampires! I don’t want to spoil you, but there’s a plot twist involving a ghost but it’s not what you think it is, unless your have the same sort of twisted mind the author has!

Buy this book to read about sexy vampire librarians!

“This is a hot book about sexy librarians.”–One dude who was totally right about the description of this book!

And read more in this sexy vampire librarian series!

Book 1: Sexy Vampire Librarians

Book 2: More Sexy Vampire Librarians: Library Conference

Book 3: Return of the Sexy Vampire Librarians–OVERDUE!

Yeah…if I wrote erotica, I’d probably have to write this series now. Someone else needs to get on top of that (as it were).
