Adventures du jour! On days like this, I often imagine that there’s a bowl of liquid in my mind, a bowl that gets jostled when I confront the unexpected or unpleasant. It’s sloshing around at the moment. I am upset, but not overset. I got some good writing done last night on the assignment story, […]
Adventures du jour! Yesterday’s highlight was going to a darkly delicious movie, Bones and All; today’s was mostly AI related. Bones and All was an interesting movie. It’s horror, but it’s romance, but it’s a road-trip movie. It’s slow and it’s not at all funny. It’s definitely not for everyone. It doesn’t even feel like
Another disappointing ChatGPT experiment. Another experiment with ChatGPT that immediately turned up a disappointing boundary: –Asked for fairy tale about pickles. –Received a fairy tale about pickles, pretty vague and unsatisfying, but a fairy tale. –Asked for a fairy tale about tomatoes. –Received same fairy tale, with pickle-related items swapped out for tomato-related items, confirmed
Sauerkraut pizza. Today’s experiment is sauerkraut pizza, homemade jalapeno sauerkraut + homemade dough. Will report. I had Ray make the dough; she’s always buying pitas for freaking mini pizzas. Me: So think about whatever’s pissing you off this week. And just grind down into the dough until it stretches. Then flop it around and griiiiind

Adventures du jour! Yesterday I hit a wall and felt like I’d gone through a reset – from going through enough changes that my brain felt discontinuitous. I did minor tasks all day, some writing for the class, some editing on the story, completed some routine tasks, studied more, worked on yoga, etc. Then Ray
Best Horror of the Year, Ellen Datlow. HUH. I made it onto Ellen Datlow’s Recommended horror longlist for my story in Vastarian vol. 4. Vastarian is the literary journal dedicated to Thomas Ligotti, a wonderfully dark horror writer. My story was “The Woman Who Was Seen.” This makes my third time, I think? 3, 6,
Adventures du jour! Ray and I went to see Hadestown last night at the Tampa Straz Center. Total success. Hadestown: –Musical about Greek myths around Hades/Persephone and Orpheus/Eurydice. –The plot is a kick to the chest and I had to sit there and cry for a while. See the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice, if
Taking a Dean Wesley Smith class… Listening to a Dean class and patting myself on the back for something extra-credit-y that I did. But he mentioned it like three times, soooooo I figured I probably should do it, because I know how. BUT the previous class I did with him he yelled at me for
