This morning, my shoulders were so sore that I just did a sun salute, skipped to dead man’s pose, then got up and dug out the foam roller and rolled my back out like a piece of pizza dough. I’m gonna say that the neck and shoulder stretches I added yesterday were effective but I should maybe be a little gentler on myself.
Out for a walk, I briefly talked to a teenage kid about bees (he wanted to know why I was taking a picture and offered to catch one for me and actually went for it before laughing and trotting away), and I thought, “WHAT A GOOOOOOB!!!” I love seeing people goof off and I wasn’t expecting it from a complete stranger. My day is made.
I spent a lot of time working through a scene yesterday that I didn’t expect to be a) so difficult, or b) so delightful. I had to make several passes on it because I wasn’t adding any setting, but I kept digging things out of the characters so I’d have to do another pass to add setting–lather, rinse, repeat.
Then I realized the scene needed to end on a kiss from a male POV, and I had no idea what would be particularly TWINKLY have happen there (the core story is a romance). So I watched a bunch of weird TikTok challenges involving first kisses (there was a trend a couple of years ago). I got what I needed for the scene (I hope!) but I think the cutest ones were the ones where the kissee is doing something else completely, gets kissed, and visibly pivots their world 90 degrees on the off chance that things might work.–The challenges also had a bunch of couples who were already together and just pretending, a TON of rejections (ow), and a fair few of mutual “hahaha nope just friends” ones that were pretty adorable on their own. Search at your own risk.
