The Guardian passes along a hint that Harry Potter may not make it past the end of book seven, based on something J.K. Rowling said in an interview.

Rowling has actually shown a lot of courage in her willingness to let major characters croak. I’ll be interested in seeing what happens (and if people can avoid spoilers).
